The Significance of Learning

I believe a disconcerting decline in the pure love of learning has risen in this generation. The simple joys of submerging oneself in a good read or spending the day at the local library appears to be archaic, obsolete, and not relative to the interests of many juveniles today, substituting enjoyable volumes with a phone or computer. Furthermore, not only has the classroom been directly correlated with a dull atmosphere, but in these past years, education has been associated with a routine of children simply forcing themselves to attend school. In that sense, I believe that it is my duty and honor to help change this erroneous mindset and attitude. I uphold learning to a high degree and have learned to love and appreciate the ability to be capable of doing so. I believe, that it is impossible to live without a proper education and through that, God can do amazing things in our lives.
I propose that learning begins in the womb when life first begins. As babies are being formed in the mother’s womb, they are learning the very basics of human development. However, when God miraculously allows them to enter the world, they are exposed to many other types of development and learning stages. It is in this time when babies learn vast amounts of information, from remembering their parents’ faces, to how to hold a spoon. They enjoy learning and exploring the many corners of the house, but, it is the duty of the parents to make sure that the child is not only in a safe environment, but that they are the prime initiators of his education. In this beginning stage, and in the next stages to come, it is extremely crucial for the parents to be aware of how their child is being taught, especially if they are being taught from a secular or Biblical worldview.
Our worldviews are so crucial when it comes to learning because they are how we perceive the world and are an important part of judging our values. I believe that I can help change the mindset of those around me because growing up in a Christian school and environment, I was incredibly blessed to have been able to be surrounded by those who share the same faith as I. Throughout my educational career, my teachers have shown me not only how to acquire the values and academic skills that I possess today, but they have allowed me to appreciate the scholarly capabilities God has granted to us. Through homework, tests, projects, and various other school-related assignments, I learned the great importance of diligence, perseverance, time-management, and most importantly, how to have faith in God.
Furthermore, learning has been incredibly impactful in my life because it has allowed me to reach out to those in my community by not only first knowing how to properly communicate well, but by sharing my faith as my mentors have taught me. Education has shaped my life to be the person who I am today and is currently still preparing me for the collegiate level that I will face. I truly believe that proper learning built on the Christian faith not only shapes lives but prepares students to be meaningful members of society.
